Raidar sees Readynas. Frontview and SSH don't work

I did an upgrade from 4.2.20 to 4.2.22 on my Readynas Ultra 4. After the reboot, the box comes online, but then:
Frontview doesn't work (looks like the apache server is down)
Raidar works
Network shares don't show up
SSH doesn't work
Ping works

Not sure what to do from here. I'd prefer not to do a firmware reset, but I'm guessing that's my next step...

  • Update: I went to the boot menu and did an OS reinstall. It reset the IP address of the box to defaults.
I still have the same behavior, though. I'm a bit surprised that after the OS reinstall, Raidar still says that the box is running 4.2.22. I was assuming it would drop the box back to a known good firmware, in case the firmware was to blame.
Now I'm hoping there is a way to push a new firmware to the server without doing a factory reset. Any ideas?
  • Thank you for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately, as mentioned in the title of the post, Frontview isn't working.

Any other thoughts? Doing a factory reset and losing ALL of my data seems like overkill for a box that boots and responds to Raidar.
  • Another update: I did the USB recovery. Now Raidar shows the new firmware version (4.2.15). So clearly, the firmware update worked.
Still, though, Frontview and SSH are not accesible. I can still ping and use Raidar, though.

Is there any way to access the console so I can see what's going on? Argggh!
  • I went ahead and opened a ticket with support. I also tried a boot into debug mode, and telnet works. Is there any way to find the telnet login information so I can go in and fix what's broke?
  • AWESOME.

    Thank you.
I've telnetted in through tech support mode. It's a busybox install.
I mounted the raid array and now have root access to the storage. Time to go look at logs to see why it's not coming up completely.
  • Got it. Looks like the PHP installation was failing because libxml isn't installed? That was causing frontview to fail loading.
Not sure why SSH wasn't starting, but I now have apache started and will start piecing things back together.

    Thanks for the help, chirpa.
