RAIDiator x86 Upgarde Version 4.2.21

Hello,

i want to upgrade a readynas 3200 to RAIDiator Version 4.2.21.
I saw in the release notes the fallowing entry.
Volume expansion will not work beyond 16 TB. To support 16 TB or greater, you'll have to factory default with that capacity in place.

I have now the situation that my C volume is 18 TB.
I have no space left to make a new volume with 16 TB and to copy the data.
What can i do to upgrade the firmware?

Greetings

You can update the firmware. That limitation also applies to all previous firmware. The limitation is regarding expansion (i.e. if you want to increase the size of your volume e.g. after adding extra disks).

Are you using X-RAID2 or Flex-RAID?

    Welcome to the forum!
  • Thanks you mdgm :-)

I am using "RAID Level X-RAID2, 12 disks (with dual redundancy)"
So if i upgrade from RAIDiator 4.2.15 to 4.2.21, I don't loose my Data because my volume is greater than 16TB?

Data would remain intact. However if you want to increase the capacity of your volume at some point in the future you would have to do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything).

You got the 18TB volume because you did a factory default (or initial setup with pre-installed disks from the factory) with all your disks in place.

I'd recommend you update to 4.2.16: http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_x86_4_2_16_Notes via System > Update > Local, verify update completed successfully then update to 4.2.21
  • Okay, thanks for the advice to upgrade to v 4.2.16 first .
I run now with version 4.2.2.
Thanks for your help and explanations!
