You can also setup a schedule for your Rsync backup on the ReadyNAS OS6. You may check this link on how to configure the backup schedule.

Sorry but I'm already using that method, and that's the point:
It doesn't allow to specify an initial hour greater than the ending one.

That time range isn't when the backup can run - it's when the backup is allowed to start. Once started it runs to completion.
So the restriction isn't as big a problem as you are thinking.
