What firmware are you running on the RN316?
Can you test with wired ethernet?
On WiFi, are you connecting to the C3200 on 5 Ghz or 2.4?
FWIW, based on the specs, I don't think you will get better single-user speeds with the new router. You could get more throughput with multiple clients though.

Only on WIFI here, don't like cables.
Latest firmware om NAS and Router.
Only use 5Ghz here.
Both the Airport and TP-Link run at same speed according to spec below:

How do I setup multiple clients? No network expert to say the least.
