Ready Nas 1100 larger drives.
I have a readynas 1100 with 4 500gb drives, raid 5. I don't particularly care about the current data on the unit (but I would like to keep any settings and IP address etc). I want to replace all 4 ...
Actually its X-Raid if that makes a difference.
The 2TB disks are the max supported by your device. So when you need more capacity again you'll need a new ReadyNAS. Newer models have much better performance.
Seeing you don't care about the data I would
1. Update to the latest firmware (4.1.16) if you haven't already
2. Verify the update completed successfully
3. Do a Config Backup (downloads a zip file: keep the zip file)
4. Power down, remove your disks (label order)
5. Insert the four new 2TB disks
6. If the disks are unformatted it should do a factory reset automatically. If not you can force it to do a factory default using the boot menu
7. Restore your Config Backup
