Ready NAS 314 USB Backup
Hello Community,
i got a little/Big/Huge Problem. I'm saving Data from to of my Servers to a ReadyNAS 31400-100. So far so good. Shares are made and Backup's land on the RN. But when i hook a USB HardDisk on and want to transfer the Backup's from the RN to the USB the RN goes Offline and i can't see anything any more. It lodes the Basics but not the Volumes or anything else. and the web interface keeps on Refreshing. The USB-Harddisk is found and i can look around on it when attaching it to the RN but as soon as i start the Backup to USB bamm Offline.
NAS:

Firmware 6.2.4 (i know not up to date but it has worked before) 6.5.1 is the Recent one but i first want to know if the Firmware right now has some issues before i update. Not that the new Firmware also has some Problems. Please tell me if ;)
I used the USB 3.0 Top Port on the Back of the NAS and defined it in the Backupjob. At first i can see that the job goes into waiting and then starts but after about 3,5 GB it goes Offline. The RN itselfs flashes by the Backup Button and the USB-Harddisk is also doing something but i can't see what

Hi Amistar,
Welcome to the community!
Could you tell us the specs and file format of the USB hard drive that you've put on your ReadyNAS system? Also, are you getting the same behavior on a different or another USB hard drive? Before you update to the latest Firmware, read all the important notes about 6.4.x and 6.5.x
Kind regards,
BrianL

There is a known issue where the web interface may go offline during a backup job that has been fixed in newer firmware than what you are running.

Ok then i will update to version 6.4.0 first and then update to 6.5.0 and see what significant changes are noticeable.
So before i would say we can close this Thread i just have one more Question. Is there a way to setup an email Notification when Backup is succesfull? I only found the setting where i could configure Status and Error notification.

Yes, and "status and error notification" is the setting that does that If you only wanted notification on errors, you'd pick "errors only".

So i did all the Firware Updates and everything looks really good but one thing just dosen't seems to Work.
just for not Showing any Names i wiped out some Information. But as you can see the configuration is correct. Provider, Server and Port is filled out correctly.
Now to my Problem: Everytime i fill out the From part with Overwatch@Example.com and press Sent Test and Apply it takes over the Adress from the User and lets the Password blank. Is that a bug or does it just change some Information?

In my opinion the password blanking is a bug. Netgear might view it as a security feature - but in many scenarios the blank password is actually applied - and that makes it a bug for me.
Arguably setting "from" differently from "user" should just be deprecated, since that increasingly triggers spam filters and in some cases outright email rejection.

We are aware of the issue with the blank password field, but it's not high on the priority list at the moment.
