Ready NAS Duo - Lost permissions after damaged disk 1 replaced
Recently lost drive one, replaced with new raw drive and now have lost permissions to modify drive! Suggestions?

Hi Jenn,
Funny, I thought I put that information into the header for my query... you can tell I don't post here much, huh?
Anyway, Firmware is RAIDiator 4.1.10 [1.00a043], XRaid (default).
What I mean is that I no longer have permission to create folders or write files to my drives... no more permission to do anything but read files. I went into Frontview to see if I could renew my permissions but couldn't figure out how to do that. Examples I found on the forum or elsewhere on the Internet were, evidently, for later versions of RAIDiator and were not applicable, I guess... I don't know much, but have had my two Duos for a very long time, and they have worked perfectly.
Anything you can suggest would be gratefully accepted.

Something else... I found this interesting, but don't know what it means...
It suggests that "nobody" is the share folder owner.....

Tried to add myself as a user, but it wouldn't accept the password I entered, and re-entered. So, all I did was make it impossible to get to the share...
I deleted my user account, but still no dice... now I can't get to the share at all. This is messed up!

Hello Phil_in_CA,
When you access the share, which I believe is through Windows explorer, do you need to login? If so, please make sure to use the same login you use to access the FrontView. Also, are you getting this unable to modify or add files problem on all of the shares?
Is the replacement disk already inserted? Please make sure this replacement disk shows up under Volume Settings as allocated so we know that it completed the resync with the existing one.
I also noticed you have an old firmware. The latest is 4.1.15.

Hi Jenn,
Before all this started, I never had to log into either of the two shares [media and backup] and had total access with read/write privilges. Then drive 1 died, at which point I pulled the drive and continued to use the NAS to play music files to my computer, Oppo DNLA player, etc. When the new drive came, I installed it and the NAS sync'd it over night. I never noticed any problem, until I tried to move some music from one place to another (via Win Explorer) on the NAS, to more correctly file by genre. It wouldn't move and gave me a permissions error... that's when I knew there was a problem.
I went to Frontview and started looking at permissions and saw nothing untoward. In frustration, I gave myself a "user" profile w/password, but it wouldn't work! So, I removed it. Now, windows 7 wants me to log in, even though I removed the "user" profile I had put into Frontview...
I am at a loss.... can I reset the software on the NAS, or might a firmware update fix this?

I don't know why ou lost write permission when all you did was replace a drive. But your access problems after you created and then deleted an account may because you told Windows to remember your credentials for the NAS (using that user name). Check the Windows Credentials Manager and see if anything is stored there for the NAS.
