Are you still running 3.01c1-p6? That firmware is too old (it's almost 6 years old now: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7836) to use anything larger than 750GB disks and even if you use 750GB disks you'd be limited to a volume capacity of 2TB.
Update to 4.1.10 and do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything). You can do the factory default with all four disks in place to save time.
