Readynas 102 freezing

I have exactly the same problems. Randomly lock ups, freezing etc. My NAS is the 104. My last perfectly working firmware version was 6.1.9
I updated to 6.2.2 but this is randomly freezing / locking up my 104.
I want to go back to 6.1.9 but I understand that it requires a USB boot recovery procedure. This procedure is not on the web and i understand mdgm can deliver this procedure.
So mdgm, please send me the USB boot recovery procedure for the 104.

  • Hi vandermerwe,

    I did:
    1. OS reinstall from the boot menu --> no effect; still freezing
    2. Uploaded the 6.2.2 firmware file again --> no effect; still freezing
    3. Factory reset (and lossing all my data etc) --> no effect; still freezing

At the moment there is no data on the RN104 as this unit is not to be trusted.

Raidar shows MAC adrress, Model (ReadyNas 104), Hostname (Mars), IP adres (192.168.137.x), 4 green LEDS showing that the drives are OK and the firmware version (6.2.2)

This NAS is driving me crazy. I also have a QNAP TS209 pro II and this unit is ON for at least 3 years and NO problem. This QNAP is max 2 TB and that is the reason I added a ReadyNas RN104 (8TB). Like I stated before, there is no data on the ReadyNas 104 because it is absolutly not reliable. I hope Netgear will fix this problem very soon.
I'm thinking of taking out the harddrives and getting rid of the Readynas and buy a QNAP or Synology enclosure.
