You should have been seeing faster write speeds using the gigabit router.
Try disabling antivirus and any internet security suite you have running on the PC (without reinstalling). Also confirm that you have gigabit connections on the PC and the NAS. Disable antivirus on the NAS as well.
Perhaps also try mapping a drive letter, and use that instead of the network path.
A fresh install of windows would be a huge amount of work.
