Further to my email above.
Just got this from Netgear.
Dear ReadyNAS® Customer,
We’d like to inform you that the firmware upgrade alert sent earlier this week was sent by mistake. The ReadyNAS OS 4.2.28 update is not applicable to your ReadyNAS Duo (RND2000) or ReadyNAS NV+ (RND4000).
We apologize for the inconvenience or any confusion this may have caused.
Thank you for being a valued customer, The ReadyNAS Team
So I wonder, had I been stupid enough to have installed this on my ReadyNas V1 would I have wrecked that too? That would have been so good after wrecking my 102 with 6.4.0
Netgear get your act together, if I'm a valued customer, then give me a little more quality.

As you likely know, that original email generated a lot of questions from v1 owners here. The redaction was probably an attempt to resolve those questions more broadly to customers who don't participate here.
FWIW, The v1 NAS have been end-of-life for some years (though apparently many owners were not aware of that).

It would not have installed - the NAS checks the firmware update for compability, and that test would have failed.
