First upgrade to the newest beta firmware, there are some usb device fixes on it although I don't think this is your issue:

Is the usb device setup as a share - you'd need to set permissions on the readynas then to allow your windows user to access the disk.
Setup a user on the readynas that is identical to the windows user then give access to the usb share using the GUI. Also, after you have done this, you may need to use the "Reset permissions" tickbox which is in the share properties
