No, I am running 6.6.0. That appears to be the latest per the firmware check. Is 6.6.1 a beta?

No, but it was just released and Netgear posts the manual upgrade links before they put it on their update server.

6.6.1 is now on the update server so the firmware check should suggest this update now.

Wite is correct, it is 35-40MB/s, it is limit on CPU,
Read has problem, it shold get 50-60 MB/s,
check if it is caused by network and disk performance firstly,
1. Check NAS Ethernet's throught using iperf.
2. run command dd to check disk (with filesystem) performance.
