ReadyNAS 104 - USB HDD doesnt show up.
Hi, we use external HDDs from WD to make a daily backup from the NAS. So we change daily the external HDDs drive, which is connected to the front usb port. This works fine for weeks, but since a few ...

- it-tudeNov 08, 2016AspirantHiI have done a reboot after attaching the backup disk, and the nas still hangs while backning up, very frustating , when will there be a fix for this ?

Yes, I am hoping that a fix will be release as soon as possible as well.
The concern that you have is actually a bit different from what the thread is reporting. Your ReadyNAS hangs during back-up.
The initial thread is actually about the USB not being detected. No mention of the NAS hanging. So there is a possibility that your case needs a few more isolation.
I would like to clarify or have the following be checked also:
1. Can your ReadyNAS detect your USB at all times?
2. Have you tried re-creating the back-up jobs?
3. Are there any back-up job logs that you can get?
4. Please try sending your system logs as well.
How do I send all logs to ReadyNAS Community moderators?
Also, it might be best if you register your ReadyNAS to verify support warranty.

I have deleted and created a new backup job, but instead of using the front usb connector I am using the rear top usb connector.
I had to reboot the nas so that the newly attached usb disk is detected, as expected.
The backup job will run this saturday, and hopefully it will run without the nas haning, I will post the result next week.
