Thanks for your help.
I have downloaded the logs. I had a quick look at the biggest ones, but nothing obvious. The logs go back many years as I have never cleared them. The biggest log is where is msmtp log where the system is trying to send me emails saying backups successful but cannot authenticate. I will remedy that.
Do you think the best approach might be to clear the log files so I can see what is happening more easily from now forwards.

I wouldn't clear the logs.
Have you looked in systemd-journal.log? I am wondering if there are leafp2p errors in there.
