I believe we already fixed this bug -- you are using 6.4.2. You're a major version and about 2 minor versions behind.

I suggest contacting support at my.netgear.com (even if they charge).

Thank you for your reply.
I checked my support, it has just lapsed, so I was about to pay but then I had a thought.
One thing I noticed is that it was quite hot as it is very hot at the moment.
I turned off the power. Removed the disks. Let them cool down. Put them back in. Powered up - and - phew ... working again.
Whether it was the heat or whether it just got confused, I am not sure but thank heavens it seems to be okay now.

Looks like the relevant logs may have already been rotated. If you run into this again please download a fresh set of logs ASAP and send those in.
