ReadyNAS 204 won't shutdown on schedule - Do_exit+8c4 error
Hi,
ReadyNAS model : RN204
Firmware : 6.4.2
My new ReadyNAS 204 fails to shutdown on it's schedule. The reason, I have since discovered, was likely down to an incompatibility with my switch and the ReadyNAS. I changed the bonding type to Adaptive Load Balancing and Transmit Load Balancing, both don't fix the issue of my ReadyNAS 204 hanging on the sceduled shutdown with the Do_exit+8c4 error displayed on the ReadyNAS LCD screen. I then decided to do away with all the bonding (not willingly mind you, if I pay for something, then I like to make full use of all features but I had no option at this point). This still hasn't fixed the issue. The ReadyNAS still hangs on it's sceduled power down.
I'll be honest with you and say that I'm not overly impressed at the moment. I had an old ReadyNAS NV+ for years and it served me well. I had the choice of branching out from a ReadyNAS and try something else but decided to stick to what I know and along with the problems I'm having at work with a ReadyNAS RN2120 and OS6 at the moment, I'm starting to wish I'd given something else a try...
A side note to all of the above; the link that you provide on your create a new account page is dead.
Path to get there: Click Join Now - Enter an email address of an account already on your system - Get the message: 'This email address is already registered. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it. Otherwise, please select a different email address.' - The reset link points here: https://my.netgear.com/community/Register/ResetPassword. This is a dead link on your IIS box.
As for the more important problem of scheduled shutdowns, I'd appreciate any advice to prevent my shiny new box baking in a cupboard under the stairs! :-)
EDIT: I've just seen another post here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/ReadyNAS-204-will-not-shutdown-on-schedule/m-p/1054732#U1054732 which highlights issues with using WoL packets. I make use of WOL packets all the time to wake my RD. From a VPN tunnel to my firewall when I'm out and also from my Kodi box. The process (in case this is helpful) is that Kodi will boot, send a WoL packet to wake the ReadyNAS, the NAS wakes up, I watch a movie and head off to bed. The NAS will then hit it's scheduled power off time and end up with a blinking power button and the error shown above. What I haven't tried is leaving the RN alone, letting the schedule power it up then power it down again (not involving WoL packets at any stage). If this proves to fix the issue, then I'm now thinking it's the fact that the NAS was woken by a WoL packet while it has a schedule set and this is causing the problem, nothing to do with the bonding of the 2 NICs.
Happy to provide any logs if required. Would really like to get this fixed.

Hi Brian,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I wanted to give it a week of running to see if this resolved the issue. It seems to have fixed it. I've not tried rebonding the NICs to see if that causes the same issue but will try to get some time soon to test this also.
Thanks for your help with this.
