It does not sound to me like you had a bad drive on channel 1. Perhaps on channel 2. But replacing a drive alone doesn't usually solve the "Remove Inactive Volumes" issue. Are you sure you weren't supposed to re-contact support once you had made the swap so they can do the next step?
Please start from the top with what your configuration was when it worked, what happened to make it not work, and what you did in response.
