Then perhaps try 

# touch /.os_update
# reboot

Though I haven't confirmed this myself, my understanding is that this method is slightly different from doing it from the front panel - in particular it shouldn't change the NAS admin password (or make other changes to the configuration).

There could be some chance that it won't come up cleanly though, so it'd be best if there was someone at the remote site who could power it back on if necessary.

If you are still getting that error, you may download the NAS system logs then provide it to us. We will check what may have caused the error.

You may upload the logs to a file-sharing site then send me the download link via private message.
