If you have just one drive in the system now, then switch to flexraid first. Then you can choose JBOD when you install the second disk.
If both drives are in the system (RAID-1), then switch to flexraid. Destroy the volume and then create two new JBOD volumes.

Actually it does. If that didn't happen then you didn't do a reset. Perhaps you did an OS reinstall instead?
Another possibility is that you did the reset with both drives in place. Then data would be destroyed, but the system would used the default XRAID, so you'd end up with RAID-1.

Thank you for your response. I was able to remove one of the drives from the system and then do a factory reset. Then I was eventually able to create the two JBOD volumes.
