ReadyNAS 3138 Backup to Another ReadyNAS - Same Network
I've been using RSYNC to backup from one ReadyNAS to another, but after a few months, the destination (backup) ReadyNAS has filled up.
How do I prevent the destination from filling up? I'm backing up about 8TB and the destination has 40TB? I can't seem to find the right options that will keep it from growing.
Thanks.

If you are using the built-in back up jobs, it would be helpful if you could post the settings you are using.
Do you have snapshots enabled on the destination NAS?

Unlike other backup protocols, rsync does have a "Remove deleted files on target" option on the Advanced tab. It doesn't ask you about that when you set up the job, you have to go back to the settings and check it. That can be a double-edged sword, though, if a file was accidently deleted and you have no or infrequent snapshots on both primary and backup. Of course, the same issue occurs if a file is created and then deleted between snapshots and backups. That's why many of us asked that Netgear return the "Recycle Bin" of OS4.x to OS6, but Netgear doesn't seem to understand that snapshots do not fully handle the same circumstances as a recycle bin.
