An OS reinstall changes the IP network configuration to use DHCP and the admin password back to the factory default value (netgear1 on old NAS, password on newer ones). The process completes quite quickly.
It shouldn't affect the rest of your configuration (including data generally and the iSCSI luns specifically). Of course if there's something failing with the system, and changes might make it worse. Though that doesn't sound like your situation.
