readyNAS 4200 + VMWARE + Xenserver

Hi

I am setting a test environment to decide which is going to be the best virtual solution for our organisation. I intend to setup either HyperV, VMware or xenserver depending on which suits us best. Currently I have VMware v sphere and xenserver 5.6 configured on 2 servers. I have created 2 iSCSI targets on our ReadyNAS 4200. However, when I started the test Xenserver connected to the iSCSI LUN. I then noticed there was an update for Xenserver so ran it, now Xenserver won't connect at all citing a user or password error (I have not set up CHAP) and simply won't connect. I updated to 4.2.17 on the RNAS but still no dice. The VMware server connects fine to it's IQN and I have vm's running. Any ideas would be appreciated?

I am presuming that multiple servers can connect to multiple iSCSI targets on one ReadyNAS without the need to add them to Access Control?

Regards
Dean

  • Yes, multiple servers can indeed connect to different iSCSI targets without needing to configure the access control lists, however it's highly advised that those lists get configured because a typo causing access to the same target that another server is currently using can be extremely problematic.
