Powered down, removed disks and powered up and it is working. It is basically reset, default password, new IP address and says does not detect any disks.

All expected behavior if there are no disks.

I am unclear as to whether you did an OS reinstall from the boot menu when the problem occurred or not.
BTW, do you have experience with the linux command line?
