My one year old RN10400 does the same thing since 6.2.0. Locks up and I have to take the power cord and plug it back in to get the RN10400 working.
I've also added to etc/sysctl.conf "kernel.panic = 1" and "kernel.panic_on_oops = 1". Sometimes it works, sometimes the RN10400 reboots, but gets stuck at "booting".
Setup: Almost a "Vanilla" RN10400 with 4x2TB WD hard drives and a UPS, with AD sync for accounts. Http, https, SMB, and NFS are enabled. 99% free space.
No AV, no apps, no snapshots, no bit-root, no ethernet bond, no scheduled action, no disk spin-down, no power timer, no WOL. Readycloud, ReadyNAS Remote and ReadyNAS Replicate, never used.
What I've done:
1-Reinstalled the OS. (No success. Still locks up)
2-Tested the Hard drives using WD tool (All OK)
3-Factory reset. (No success. Still locks up)
4-Formated the hard drives (using ReadyNAS gui) and made a new Raid5 using X-Raid. (No success. Still locks up)
5-Formated the hard drives (using ReadyNAS gui) and made a new Raid10 using X-Raid. (No success. Still locks up)
6-Changed the hard drives slots. (No success. Still locks up)
7-Formated the hard drives (using ReadyNAS gui) and made a new Raid5 not using X-Raid. (No success. Still locks up, but during the rebuild that took more than 330 hours, the RN10400 never locked up. After the rebuild was done, it locked up after 10 minutes or so)
8-Installed ReadyNAS 6.2.3-T1652 beta 2 (Waiting for results...) (8 hours and still no lock up. Starting to copy stuff)
Ok, ReadyNAS 6.2.3-T1652 beta 2 lasted around 33 hours until first freeze. Going for the second run...
Conclusion of 6.2.3-T1652 trial: After the initial 33 hours, the RN10400 has locked 2 to 3 times a day, but the editing of etc/sysctl.conf with "kernel.panic = 1" and "kernel.panic_on_oops = 1" is working great, so I'm considering ReadyNAS 6.2.3-T1652 with kernel options a temporary workaround.
What the hell is happening?! What more can I do?! Give up, activate the warranty and send it to repair?!
