ReadyNAS and Orbi interaction
Not sure if this problem is ReadyNAS related or Orbi related. One of my two RN214's is connected via ethernet to the Orbi satellite and is apparently having problems staying connected to other device...

Hi BillReamy!
There had been issues with the Network interface of the ReadyNAS changing and was resolved using 6.9.1 which is now officially released. If your ReadyNAS is not updated to this version yet, I suggest you upgrade to this version.
If the issue persists, You might want to try using a different cable between the NAS and Orbi. Kindly provide us feedback if this solution helped to resolve the issue.

I installed the 6.9.1 firmware but I am still seeing the same problem. I have never caught the first message to appear on the unit's display but it continues with "Network Changed" followed by "No IP Address". That usually repeats once or twice and then the unit gets its original IP address. This of course interrupts the video playback (either a DVD or a Blu-Ray ISO file using Power DVD 16) and causes the program to stop running. I noticed that in one of the Orbi threads that the Orbi system could be causing the problem.

Hi BillReamy
Have you tried setting up a static IP for the NAS? Have you tried changing the cable connecting the NAS and the Orbi?
You can try changing the port where the NAS is connecting from the Orbi.
It would be better if you can contact NETGEAR Support for assistance on your Orbi and ReadyNAS if all steps will still not help resolve the issue

It isn't happening on my network (which uses the Orbi RBR40 and a couple of RBS40 satellites).
Generally speaking, this issue is caused by a disruption in layer-2 (ethernet in this case). The issues in 6.9.0 firmware were in the ethernet driver (Intel released a driver update which introduced the bugs). If you have an ethernet switch you can place between the Orbi and the NAS (and your other ethernet devices), that could help isolate the root cause. If the problem disappears when you insert the switch, then that does point to the ORBI lan ports.

I tried Marc_V's suggestions above and assigned a static IP address and switched cables. At first it looked like that fixed the problem but it resurfaced later the same day. I will try switching the ports today and if that doesn't work I will (hopefully) pick up an ethernet switch tomorrow and try that. (I will almost certainly need a switch as I have a new smart TV coming Tuesday which needs an ethernet connection and there aren't enough ports on the satellite.)

Since the static IP address didn't help, I suggest going back to dhcp.
You can then set up orbi to reserve the IP address in your router - which is a better way to get a consistent IP address.
