Readynas Drive Caddy

anyone know where i can buy new drive caddies? i want to have a spare so that i can have someone remotely remove and swap a drive if it is DOA. I am concerned that my onsite folks are not very techie and coudl have issues swaping the new drive and old drive from the caddy.

  • You see the old style ones occasionally on eBay -- typically somebody trying to get a bit back from a broken NAS.  Amazon has them, too.  The caddies for the older units (except rack mount) will work in a 516, just not vice-versa.  If you are worried about fumble fingers, the old ones where the drive is held in with screws might be a better one, anyway, since you are pre-mounting the drive.

Also, make sure you get a tray for the desktop NAS (RNDTRAY-10000S), not the rackmount (RNRXTRAY1-10000S)
