ReadyNAS Duo - cant copy files *from* the NAS, can copy to i

For some reason when I try to copy files from my ReadyNAS to my desktop it will make 0 progress ( windows will open the Copying window, but the speed remains at 0 bytes/second. Eventually it times out and I get "There is a problem accessing foo" )
The odd thing is that I can copy from my desktop to the readynas without issue at very high speeds. I can also browse all the directories on my readyNAS via windows without any issue. The issue is just copying from the NAS Duo to my desktop, very odd!
To make it even more interesting, i switched my desktop to wireless connection to the router instead of wired, and in that setup I _am_ able to copy from the ReadyNAS... so im thinking maybe something with my ethernet adapter settings, but I haven't the slightest idea. I'm sure its not the cable from my router -> desktop since my internet connection is solid.

I'm running windows 7 and am connected via my verizon router. I've disabled DLNA all together
any suggestions?
