- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe Duo is a Sparc ReadyNAS, not a x86 ReadyNAS (e.g. Pro). Addons for x86 ReadyNAS won't run on Sparc ReadyNAS and vice versa. Why not give ReadyDLNA a try?
Update to 4.1.7 (http://www.readynas.com/RAIDiator_4_1_7_Notes), then download the latest ReadyDLNA addon here and install it via System > Update > Local
Welcome to the forum! - spqrbc753AspirantI have attempted using ReadyDLNA but it does not play the MKV files, thats why I was hoping I could somehow install ps3 media server or another addon which will support this format.
- mrjamesAspirantHi
I have a problem where my PS3 fails to detect any Media Server. I have updated my Radiator to 4.1.7 (4.1.3 was the version when I bought it), I have even download and installed the ReadyDLNA_1.0.19.bin, did rescan + rebooted on both my NAS and PS3, but still the PS3 fails to detect any media servers. I can read/write from my computer (vista 32bit) so the connection is there. Both my computer and PS3 are wireless connected to my network. Can anyone help me whit the issue??
Thanks - bar1AspirantI have a similar problem. WinXp can see the readynas as a UPnP device, but when I try to "invoke" the device or look at its properties it says the device is no longer on the network. The ps3 does not see it at all, is this anything to do with authentication?
I can't see any way on the ps3 of setting anything.
Any thoughts of what else I can try?
thanks, - humbeAspirantMy PS3 see both my NV+ and Ultra 6+ without issues with ReadyDLNA. Many file formats are not supported, but I suspect this is a ps3 problem and not a ReadyNAS problem.

In DLNA, the server extracts the audio/video from the file and streams the audio/video directly to the player. So if a file format isn't supported, it is always a limitation of the server, and not the player.humbe wrote: My PS3 see both my NV+ and Ultra 6+ without issues with ReadyDLNA. The situation with audio/video codecs is more complicated. The player is responsible for rendering, so it cannot play streams that use codecs it doesn't support. However, if the server supports transcoding, it can overcome codec limitations in the player.
Also, for some formats (DVD ISOs for instance), the DLNA framework will limit features (e.g., DVD menu navigation).
