ReadyNAS DUO "corrupt Root" how to re-install?
I have a corrupted HDD that I have pulled out and I reformatted the remaining good one NTFS on a WIndows 10 machine. Seems fine there. But when I go to load it in my ReadyNAS DUO, I see blinkng green...

No, it has to be done in the NAS. The NAS needs to partition the disk, format it, create the RAID array(s), and then create the file system.
Did you add this new disk as the second disk? Or did you remove the original disk and insert a new one?

The fan seems to have resolved itself after the re-calibration.
I just added a brand new 2GB HDD by itself to the ReadyNAS DUO and now I can't access the admin page. It wants to "initiallize" the disk (see attached screenshot). Cannot use RAIDar's Admin to go further into the config.
Does this really have to be done *first in Windows? Because when I attach it to my PC, Windows won't boot no matter if it's on the secondary SATA channel or not. I don't use a monitor on the PC and instead RDP via my MAC after it boots.
If I really need to iniitialize in Windows first, I'l go buy a monitor for the PC and poke around in the BIOS but wanted to ask here first.

For some reason it did take care of the initialization (I had only the (1) new 2GB HDD installed. The working 1GB that you helped with earlier was left out). So, then I hot popped in the 2nd HDD and it too is syncing (screenshot).
I noticed the fan seemed to quiet down before I added the second drive so perhpas when the sync is done, and the NAS rebooted for good measure, the fan will settle down again. If not, I'll install that plugin and test.
Stephen, thank you for all of your help with this I truly appreicate your replies and expertise. :smileyvery-happy:

I'm glad I could help.
When you replaced the 1 TB drive with the 2 TB model, the system also had to do a fresh factory install (putting the operating system onto the hard drive). As you can see in your screenshot, the system has to sync the second disk to the first (creating a RAID-1 array). That process was still underway when you took your screenshot. When done, the NAS admin page (and RAIDar) will show a redundant volume, and you'll see the disk size of the added disk.
If you need to replace a disk in the future, I'd suggest using either 2 TB WDC Red or 2 TB Seagate Ironwolf drives. They are intended for NAS, and generally work out better than desktop drives. Also, you'll need to upgrade to a new NAS if you need larger disks in the future - your NAS can't use any disks larger than 2 TB.
