Hi!
Found this thread looking for a solution for myself. My problem was that when i hooked my Mac to the LAN, not the WLAN, the AFP/CIFS shares as well as the Time Machine backup disk would not show on my Mac. Here's what i did to display the Time Machine backup disk, somewhat similar to what nielsNL wrote earlier:
Open Finder, and Go -> Connect to server -> afp://IPADDRESSOFNAS/ReadyNAS -> Use the Username/Password set in the Time Machine panel on the NAS.
The Time Machine backup disk should now show in finder, and should also pop up in the Time Machine preference panel.
Hope it works out!
