ReadyNAS duo not visible to Time Machine

I cleared my previous KEYCHAINS on the Mac for any previous connections made to the NAS. Then I tried a different SERVER ADDRESS when connecting to the NAS via FINDER (normally, I'd been using afp://NAS_IP_ADDRESS which let me see the SHARES etc)
This time, I followed the above post by using SERVER ADDRESS afp://ReadyNAS@NAS_IP_ADDRESS/ and hey presto, it connected as normal. Quickly flicked to the TIME MACHINE icon on my Mac, and there is the ReadyNAS available under SELECT DISK!
I'm over the moon that this has now been resolved. Now I'm really keen for someone to help explain the difference in the two SERVER ADDRESSES.
