I think you are asking whether you can get another NAS and put some of your existing data onto it.
Of course, although I would not get an identical unit. The duo v1 is now old and, relatively speaking, slow.
You need to consider:
How much data you'll accumulate in the next few years.
Whether you'll need the unit just as a storage server or whether you'll be streaming or transcoding.
How you will backup your data.
I would look at the new Readynas range, plenty of info around.
