I'm running Radiator 4.1.15 ( I was on 4.1.13, noticed the slow down and then updated a few days ago).
I started using jumbo frames when I first plugged into the gigabit switch, around 18 months ago. Which seemed to work very well indeed. The speed issue affects both directions, although tranferring from NAS to PC is slightly quicker, around 1.2 Mbytes/s vs 850Kb/s from PC to NAS, in the test I just performed using a 29.6 Mb mov file. This is over FTP again by the way. Via ethernet, over the switch.
I've been restarting the DUO almost every time I start testing theories, and I just started it now to do the test above. The network logs showed 0 errors before the test and after the test I can now see :
TCP Retransmits 7
Unrecovered TCP Retransmits 4
- besides that, all seems perfectly well.
Checking the disk health in the SMART+ window shows 0 errors for both drives. I'd feel better if I did actually see some errors I think! Perhaps there's a more effective way I can diagnose disk health? Or indeed the network port health.

Hi, I managed to get back on to this tonight.
I ran the nastest and had some interesting results.
Running a 400MB file write on N: 5 times...
Iteration 1: 1.84 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 1.77 MB/sec
Iteration 3: 1.56 MB/sec
Iteration 4: 1.80 MB/sec
Iteration 5: 1.66 MB/sec

Average (W): 1.73 MB/sec

-----------------------------The write is very low but the read is back up. More interestingly however is that I then tried another ftp test, on the same laptop but now from within windows. It's a dual boot machine, running Linux usualy.
In Win7 mode the ftp speeds for writting to the NAS were anywhere from 5 Mb/s to over 10 Mb/s, which is great, but the read was fluctuating around 100 Mb/s ! So the great news is the NAS must be fine.
I then tried another laptop, running Vista that transfers at full speed except when ftp'ing to the DUO. This demonstrated the previous slow speeds. I don't fully understand how ftp speeds could be different between Win7/Vista and Linux but there it is.
At least I'm now looking at a software issue which makes me much happier, so thanks for helping me narrow it down !
Odd results, certainly the NASTester write speeds should be faster.
