ReadyNAS FTP service hangs

Never understood the need for the OS reinstall but went along with it, what will a factory reset do if the FTP have always given me trouble. The only need for the FTP is when transferring compressed backups from my Linux servers to free up disk and that only happens on demand.
The NAS is my backup device and off course have backups of my backup but don't believe this issue is worth all the trouble of starting all over.
