Does it boot up with only disk 1 installed (in bay 1)? You should be able to access the data with only one drive.

Yep, definitely tried that. Tried with the 1 remaining good disk and also tested with a brand new one. RAIDar says no disks detected and the NAS shows no green lights for bay 1, 2 or activity.
