ReadyNAS NV+ hang on Boot

Hi,

My ReadyNAS NV+ (RND4000) has just died after a power cut.

When power up, it won't boot, only Disk 1 & 3 LED remain on.

Also, it can’t load into boot menu.

Same even if all disks removed.

Is this a software fault of boot loader problem? Or?

Any suggestion are most welcome, thanks.

I still can't load into boot menu. Removed all disks, it still won't do anything, but only hang on boot and keep display static LED lights on disk 1 & 3. I assumed this is a hardware failure instead of software problem (boot loader).

Therefore, I sent my NAS to Netgear service center (Hong Kong), they found that the motherboard was damaged and RAID disks were corrupted too. The tech guy help me to find which firmware version applied (mine is 4.1.15) and repaired the RAID disks. Luckily, I've another NV+, with disk roaming, my NAS is back!

**kindly reminder, make sure your new housing has same firmware version (recommend) to the old one.

Thank you StephenB! You guys are Awesome!!

Try booting it diskless again, and see what status RAIDar reports.

Then power down, reinsert the disks (preserving slot order), and check RAIDar again.

    Possibilities include

    • chassis failure of some sort
    • corrupted file systems on the disks due to the power cut
    • disk failure(s) when the power cut

Do you know what firmware your NAS was running (4.1.x or 5.3.x)?

If not, does your NAS front panel say it is a v2?  The rear panel labels are misleading.

      Thanks reply!!

Try booting it diskless, it won't boot, therefore I can't access the admin web interface (attached an image, only Disk 1 & 3 LED ON)

NAS firmware was running 4.1.x (don't remember exact version number...)

Serial number starts with 000DA2, is it v1?
