ReadyNAS NV+ hang on Boot
Found my otherwise reliable ReadyNAS shut down due to power failure in house. Had it on a UPS with autoshutdown enabled.
Turned it back on, blinky blue light for about 5 seconds, then got steady l...

The LED pattern would suggest USB Boot Recovery is the way forward: RAIDiator 4.1: USB Recovery Tool
You could try a different USB key. Not all USB keys are compatible.
Another possibility would be that the memory (RAM) may have failed.

Concur with USB Boot recovery but the front panel is unresponsive after the Disk 1 and 3 lights come on steady, even with power switch held down. So I can't get it into USB Boot recovery mode at all.
I don't have any similar RAM to check it with but removing it completely resulted in a different set of lights coming on, consistent with the SODIMM fail light sequence.

Can you try the USB recovery with the disks removed? (Label them by slot, so you can get them back into the proper positions).
Also, if you have other devices connected to the NAS USB ports, you should probably disconnect them.

Unfortunately now nothing works. Won't turn on at all, no fan, no nothing. Guess I'll see about getting a new chassis.

Sounds like the PSU might have failed (do you notice a burning smell?). There are threads on replacing the PSU.
The NV+ was discontinued several years ago now. There's no warranty on second hand purchases.
If you buy a new ReadyNAS there is a procedure (there are some costs involved) for support to attempt to backup your data using the new NAS. See ReadyNAS: Migrating disks from RAIDiator 4.1 or RAIDiator 5.3 to ReadyNAS OS 6
Were you using X-RAID? It's possible to attempt data recovery using an ordinary x86 Linux PC. There's also 3rd party software for Windows.
