ReadyNAS NV+ v1 - Proxy Settings to 'get on the net'

Hello,
I found this topic http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=15606 but unfortunately it never got resolved or it did and wasn't posted out.

Our ReadyNAS is running the latest firmware 4.1.13, it is connected to a switch which in turn is connected to a computer configured with a SQUID Proxy server which connects to the rest of the network in the school I work. It's there to basically 'steal' the internet from the rest of the school network for our little mac network.

All I'm trying to do is set up e-mail alerts which I'm presuming aren't working (cos I don't recieve test messages) because I can't find the place to put in your standard HTTP proxy server address.

If anyone can point me in the direction of an add-on or something that'd be handy.

Cheers,
Marcus

The email alerts don't use http, you'd need to somehow configure squid for smtp. AFAIK that is not possible.

The most direct way to get this to work would be to replace the computer+SQUID proxy server with a small NAT router.
