ReadyNAS NV+ v2 - Volume C: dead
The LCD display said, "Drive C is dead". The logs say that drive 4 (there are 4 drives in my array) has many uncorrectable errors and drive failure is likely. I replaced the drive and tested the "bad...

Generally I don't want to use a disk in a RAID array if it has more than 50 reallocated+pending sectors. There are other views on that's mine.
The array is most vulnerable when re-syncing. So it would be good to make a backup of your data before you replace the disk.
WDC Red and Seagate Ironwolf drives are good options for the replacement. They both run cool, and are intended for NAS.

The logs say, " Growing SMART settings indicate a disk that may fail soon", but the WD diag, show SMART ok.

What are the actual counts?
There is no bright line on failing (but not dead) disks. Different folks use different thresholds for when they need to be replaced. Lifeguard will pass disks that I won't use in RAID (and in some cases that I won't use for anything). Also, in some cases I've found that Lifeguard's non-destructive tests will pass a disk, but it's destructive write-zeros test will fail it.

"Detected increasing uncorrectable errors (1093) on disk 4". And, " Reallocated sector count has increased in the last day" Disk 4: Previous count 196 Current count 267".

That disk needs to be replaced.
What RAID mode were you using - XRAID/RAID-5 or something else?
