readynas offline but still visible in explorer

hello. my readynas drive is visible and accessible a a mapped drive [Z]. but does not connect using my firefox browser .` it just says it is offline. firmware is 6.2.2 and pc is windows 7 pro. ...

thanks for your detailed response, Bedlam1, the oldest available is 6.4.2 arm, so i will try that, though i'm surprised it wont update to the latest version straight away - poor programming perhaps ?

i vaguely recall seeing firmware upgrades yesterday, so if i can find it agaain i'll give it a try!

I will keep this thread informed.

DO NOT USE 6.4.2

You best try using the NAS to "Check for Updates" I think

And Backup your data 1st as a precaution

hi, i tried 'check for updates' but it told me there wre none - which i think is its default.

i downloaded and unzipped 6.4.2 and tried to upload the img file, but it refused me, with the msg ERROR-SERV-UNREC.

am starting to remember why computers annoy me !!

  Since you are on 6.2.2 firmware it is recommended to update first to 6.2.5 or 6.3.5 then to 6.5.2 once done you can then update to the latest 6.9.3 firmware.
  
  Warnings:
  
  Devices updated with 6.9.3 firmware should not be downgraded to firmware versions before 6.9.0.
  
  ReadyNAS 102, 104, and 2120 must not be updated directly to 6.9.x from 6.3.x or older firmware. They must first be updated to either 6.2.5 or 6.3.5 then to 6.5.2 and then onto 6.9.x.
  
  ReadyNAS 202, 204, 212 and 212 must not be updated directly to 6.9.x from 6.3.x. They must first be updated to 6.3.5 then 6.5.2 and then onto 6.9.x.
  
  Here is a download link for the 6.2.5 or 6.3.5 Firmwares. You can browse through the Firmware and Downloads Link. It will be better to follow the upgrade path strictly to avoid any issues with the unit.
