I don't believe it is safe to open up the CIFS ports in your office network (or in your home network). There are a lot of security issues there. Many ISPs block the CIFs ports due to security concerns, so I am not sure it would work anyway.
A better solution is to use a VPN tunnel between the remote server and your home network.
