ReadyNAS Pro 4 — ERR: Could not properly extract
Im haveing that same issue and need help from someone to restore my firmware. I did a factory restore and now its stuck in "booting." when I try to reinstall OS it tells me "err: can not extract" I cant figure out how to get it to USB boot mode. I'm about to pull my hair. I see that people get it fixed, but there is no solution posted.
please help. thank you.
Rebooting. Your NAS should now be not only fixed but also running the latest firmware RAIDiator-x86 4.2.30.

Ive tried that, and I can never get it to boot into USB mode. I dont think this model has that option. I used a stop watch and counted 15 second and still it doesn't work. I used 2 different USB's

It does support that. Have you tried pressing the backup job button for longer than 15 seconds?
You press and hold the backup button
Press the power button briefly to turn the NAS on
Continue to hold the backup button till after seeing a message on the display on the front of the NAS that indicates that it is booting from USB.
