I've seen rogue file permissions once in awhile, where /etc/resolv.conf or other files get attributes that won't allow it to be written to. Switching between static and DHCP a few times would increase the chances of that.
If you see it again, try this... backup config, then restore it. The restore process corrects file permissions on those files, which may also correct your issue.
