ReadyNAS Pro Pioneer drive not adding (RNDP600E)

Hello & happy summery winter Saturday!  Question on Pro Pioneer 6.9.6   I have hot removed a 16TB WD Red Pro HDD in slot #2 and added a brand new 18TB WD181KFGX, however the volume is not rebuild...

There are errors in the log files for the new disk

I suggest testing the disk in a PC with WDC's dashboard program.

 

BTW, you shouldn't post the log zip publicly - there is privacy leakage when you do that.  I've redacted your link.

    Q:  Can I re-insert the old HDD back into that slot 2 and get redundency back in the meantime??

      You can, but I suggest deleting the partitions first.  Then it should automatically start resyncing when you hot-insert it.

        RE:  Old drive.  Duh, I wasn't thinking of rebuilding, just replacing intact as if there'd been no data change.  The partitions were wiped and it's rebuilding now.  That will take more than a day.

         

        Connecting the suspect new 18TB drive to a Win10 PC via USB-SATA adapter and using the WD Diagnostics reveals only passing scores for the quick, extended and write zero tests.  If's it's even a little suspect then I'd seek a replacement, but not sure if that's possible with passing scores?
