Readynas Pro stuck on boot

Is there anything speaking against trying to replace the cpu and ram?
You say "if You must try", could something go wrong?
If the cpu and ram is not the problem i quess it will just stay the same and refuse to boot?
Or is there a procedure on the Readynas that does a "new hardware detected, must erase volume" kind of a thing?
Please forgive my newbie questions.
I´ve built many pc systems over the years and is quite experienced in all parts of a pc, changing parts and troubleshooting.
But never had to change any of the vital parts of my Readynas, only the fans.
