Hello Tibonhomme ,

Could you please check the Hard-disk compatibility with your ReadyNAS first. HDD compatibility reference link : https://kb.netgear.com/20641/ReadyNAS-Hard-Disk-Compatibility-List

Then you can check if your device is discover on Raidar. Link for reference for Basic Setup with RAIDar : https://kb.netgear.com/22765/Basic-Setup-with-RAIDar

Also , If you ReadyNAS was not running on latest firmware then you can perform OS reinstall by accessing the boot menu. OS-reinstall is a safe method and the data is not impacted at all. Are you serious? The hard disk compatibility list is 100% useless, containing no recent entries and many entries for drives that have not been manufactured for years. There are even entries that would lead one to believe the current WD Red line (as opposed to Red Plus) are a good choice, which they absolutely are not, because they are "from a similar product line" (which they are actually not, in spite of using the same name).

It is a shame that the current moderation of this forum consists of canned answers from years past and not real answers from someone with appropriate technical knowledge.
