ReadyNAS RN10400 Stuck at Boot Menu
Hi,
New thread started as requested.
My RN10400 had the plug pulled in error and when re-powered it goes to Boot Menu and sticks. Pressing the backup button changes to "Boot Menu Normal". Pressing the poer button has no effect. Pressing the backup button does not move to the factory boot option.
Other threads have suggested that it is the ReadyNAS that is faulty and moving the disks to another OS6 ReadyNAS would preserve the data.
Is there any way that I can confirm if the NAS is faulty.
This does sound like hardware failure, perhaps the reset button is stuck in.
If you are the original purchaser from an authorised reseller and if you also purchased this unit less than 3 years ago you should contact support to arrange for a warranty replacement. If not you should either get a new NAS (e.g. RN214, RN424 etc.)
or at your own risk attempt to recover your data using an ordinary x86 Linux PC or with paid Windows software that will work with mdadm RAID and BTRFS.

Try shutting down the NAS, removing the disks (labeling them by slot), and powering up again.
Then tell us what status RAIDar reports

It will be tomorrow before I can perform this test, as I'm not at home now.
I should have said that, with the disks in lace, the NIC interface ports are lit, but the unit is not seen by RAIDar.
I shall remove the disks tomorrow evening and post the RAIDar report.
KindRegards,
Colin.

Hi,
I have removed the hard drives and restarted the NAS. The same behaviour is exhibited: The power light flashes and the "Boot Menu" message appears in the window. Pressing the backup button will select "Boot Menu Normal". Nothing else happens.
RAIDar says that it cannot find any raid devices on my network, and the NAS does not show in the attached devices list of my router.
Kind Regards,
Colin.
