ReadyNAS snapshot
Concerned about deleting old snapshots...where a file has not been changed since first created and collected by a snapshot (say in 2014), then if I delete all snapshots from 2015 and older will I no longer have a restorable copy at all or since the file itself still exists will it be held in the most recent snapshot?

Snapshots made after 2015 will still hold the file. if (for example) the file in the main share was accidentally deleted, the file could still be restored from any of the snapshots.
Under the covers, the main share and all the snapshots would point to the same data blocks (since the file was never changed after creation). The data blocks are kept intact if any snapshot (or the main share) points to them.
