There is a freeware package you can try, called R-linux for Windows ( https://www.r-studio.com/free-linux-recovery/ ). So start there, and see if it finds your files.
Thank you for the lead on this. I was able to get all my data off one of the drives. The unit is indeed dead. I received a new power supply from amazon at 12V and 5A, and it just continued the same behavior. I'm pretty confident it's toast. However, with your information on r-linux, I was to gather all my media, and put it on my other NAS devices - so thank you for that.
